History and Detail
The Original design for this bed was be Friederich Schinkel, for the bedroom of Queen Louise in the palace of Charlottenburg, Berlin. Scinkel (1718-1841) was the most important German designer of the Romantic Period. The beautiful design of this bed incorporates the detail carving of the ribbons at each corner of the bed. You can also add your own Coat of Arms, Insignia or Initials to make the bed unique to you. (Soft furnishings are not included in the price).
Standard Dimensions
Headboardboard height - 3' or (91.5cm)
Footboardboard height - 3' or (91.5cm)
To fit a mattress - 4'6" wide x 6'6" long (Standard English double) or (1m 36cm wide x 1m 97.5cm long)
As the bed is made to order, any of the dimensions can be changed to your own specifications. We also make this bed to fit a standard 5' (king size), 6' (superking size) mattress and other special mattress sizes including American and European sizes.
Height of Bed
You have two options when it comes to the height of the matress.
You can place a Divan base and matress straight inside the frame so that it sits on the floor.
We can provide you with slats (as an extra cost option of £50), which lay across the two bottom rails. You can then put a matress straight on top of these.
